Export clusters in Rajasthan and what they make
Most of Rajasthan's export manufacturing is craft-based and labour-intensive: furniture and décor workshops, hand-printing tables, looms and stone yards. Orders are often split across several small units, which matters for how an inspection is planned.
| Cluster | Main export products | Verified fact (source) |
|---|---|---|
| Jodhpur | Sheesham, mango and acacia wood furniture, iron and mixed-material furniture, reclaimed-wood pieces, décor | Town of Export Excellence for handicraft (DGFT). Containers shipped from Jodhpur fell from 21,053 in August–November 2024 to 12,579 in the same months of 2025 after the US tariff rise (ETV Bharat, 1 Dec 2025) |
| Jaipur | Furniture, wood and stone décor, block-printed textiles, blue pottery, rugs, jewellery | Town of Export Excellence for handicrafts (DGFT); over 15% of India's gems exports (Business Today, June 2026) |
| Barmer | Wood carving, embroidery, handicrafts | Town of Export Excellence for handicrafts (DGFT) |
| Bhilwara | Yarn and fabric | Town of Export Excellence for textiles (DGFT) |
| Makrana | Marble blocks, slabs, tiles and marble articles | Makrana Marble, registered geographical indication (GI application 405, certificate 30 Mar 2015) |
| Sanganer and Bagru | Hand-block-printed fabric, bed linen, scarves, garments | Sanganeri Hand Block Printing (GI 147, 2010) and Bagru Hand Block Print (GI 183, 2011) |
| Kota | Kota Doria cotton and silk-cotton fabric and saris | Kota Doria, registered GI (application 12, certificate 2005) |
| Sojat (Pali district) | Henna and mehndi powder | Sojat Mehndi, registered GI (application 628, certificate 14 Sep 2021) |

How coverage and travel work in Rajasthan
Our office is in Basni, Jodhpur, and we have inspectors based in Jodhpur and Jaipur. Travel is charged by band:
- Band A, Jodhpur: no travel fee. Inspection the same day when an inspector is free, otherwise within 1–2 working days.
- Band B, Jaipur and Sanganer, and Bhiwadi on the edge of Delhi NCR: US$99 per man-day travel fee, with notice from the same day to 3 working days.
- Band C, the rest of Rajasthan: actual travel cost from the nearer base, quoted before you book. Allow up to 5 working days' notice. This covers Barmer, Bhilwara, Makrana, Kota, Sojat and Udaipur.
The inspection fee itself is US$249 per man-day in every band; see pricing. In Jodhpur, where many orders come from several workshops, we can sometimes cover a carpentry unit and a finishing or packing unit on the same day when they are close together. We confirm the man-days before you book.
Geographical indications and rules worth knowing
Several Rajasthan crafts are registered geographical indications (GIs). A GI protects the name, so a product sold as "Makrana marble" or "Sanganeri print" should come from that area and that process. Besides those in the table above, registered GIs include the Mojari Craft of Jodhpur (GI 735, certificate issued March 2026), Jodhpur Bandhej Craft (GI 751, 2023) and Udaipur Koftgari Metal Craft (GI 747, 2023). Blue Pottery of Jaipur was registered in 2008; the registry shows its term running to August 2026, so check its renewal before using the name on packaging.
An inspection can check that goods match the approved sample and the agreed process. It cannot certify GI origin, which rests on the producer's registration as an authorised user.
For wood furniture going to Europe, the EU Deforestation Regulation asks importers for proof of where the timber came from. ETV Bharat reported in December 2025 that Jodhpur exporters see this as a second pressure after the US tariffs. At the factory we can check that timber records and invoices exist for your order and match the goods.
