Export clusters in Odisha and what they make
The consumer goods importers buy from Odisha are mostly handloom and craft from district clusters, plus granite slabs. Each district tends to specialise in one or two products. The table uses the national One District One Product (ODOP) list and the IP India GI registry.

Products we inspect in Odisha
- Handloom: cotton and handloom sarees and handloom fabrics. On tie-and-dye work we check motif alignment, colour bleeding, length and width, and agree beforehand how much handloom irregularity is acceptable.
- Silver filigree: silver jewellery, checked for broken wirework, solder joints, finish, clasps and hallmark or purity claims, with samples sent to a lab for silver content when needed.
- Paintings and wall art: wall décor, including Pattachitra on cloth or palm leaf: size, colour against the approved sample, cracking of paint and protective packing.
- Stone and metal craft: figurines and sculptures and brass décor, where breakage and chipping in transit are the main risks.
- Natural fibre: baskets and natural-fibre storage, checked for mould, moisture and shape.
- Granite: granite slabs and tiles.
How coverage and travel work in Odisha
We have no inspector based in Odisha. Our nearest base is Kolkata, and every visit in the state is Band C: an inspector travels from Kolkata or another base, and the actual travel cost is quoted before you book. Allow up to 5 working days' notice.
- Craft orders are often small. If you buy from several producers, ask them to bring finished goods to one packing point so one man-day can cover more of the order.
- Combine districts. Cuttack, Bhubaneswar and Puri are close together; Sambalpur and Sonepur in the west need a separate trip.
- Same standard everywhere. Each report follows the same checklist and verdict wording, and a supervisor reviews it before release.
An inspection costs US$249 per man-day plus travel; see pricing.
How to book an inspection in Odisha
Send the product, the address where the goods will be packed and the ready date through the booking form, with your specification and photos of the approved sample. Within 24 hours we confirm the inspector, the notice we need, the man-days and the price, including travel. The report arrives within 24 hours of the inspection with a verdict of Cleared to load, Hold or Not cleared.
