Export clusters in Telangana and what they make
Telangana's craft, textile and stone exports come from a handful of districts, each known for one or two products. The facts below come from the IP India GI registry, the national One District One Product (ODOP) list and the Council for Leather Exports.
| Cluster | Products | Verified fact |
|---|---|---|
| Pochampally (Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district) | Ikat fabrics, sarees and home furnishings | Pochampally Ikat is a registered GI (IP India, application 4, valid to December 2033); ODOP product "Handloom Ikkat Products" |
| Warangal | Cotton durries and flatweave rugs | Warangal Durries is a registered GI (IP India, application 523, certificate May 2018, valid to March 2035); ODOP product for Warangal Rural district |
| Hanumakonda, Karimnagar, Khammam | Granite slabs, tiles and blocks | ODOP products "Granite Slabs" (Warangal Urban, now Hanumakonda), "Granites" (Karimnagar) and "Granite" (Khammam) |
| Narayanpet and Siddipet | Cotton and silk sarees; Gollabhama sarees | ODOP products "Cotton & Silk Sarees" (Narayanpet) and "Golabama Sarees" (Siddipet) |
| Karimnagar and Jangaon | Silver filigree; brass artefacts | ODOP products "Silverfiligree" (Karimnagar) and "Brass Artifacts" (Jangaon) |
| Hyderabad | Leather goods and footwear | Listed by the Council for Leather Exports as a production centre for footwear, leather and leather products (2026) |
A GI protects the name of a product made in its area by registered producers. If your product is sold as "Pochampally Ikat" or "Warangal Durries", ask the supplier for proof that the weaver or society is a registered authorised user.
Products we inspect in Telangana
- Ikat and handloom: handloom fabrics, cotton and handloom sarees and silk sarees. On ikat we check pattern alignment between repeats, colour bleeding in the first wash, width and length, and that handloom irregularity stays within the agreed limit. See handloom and silk inspection.
- Durries: dhurries and kilims, measured for size and squareness, laid flat for rippling and checked for wavy edges and dye bleed.
- Granite: granite slabs and tiles, with thickness, polish, flatness, shade matching and crate checks.
- Craft: brass décor and silver jewellery.
- Leather: see leather goods inspection and footwear inspection.
How coverage and travel work in Telangana
Our inspectors are based in Jodhpur, Jaipur, Saharanpur, Moradabad, Delhi NCR and Kolkata. None is in Telangana or elsewhere in south India, so every visit in the state is Band C: an inspector travels in and the actual travel cost is quoted before you book. Allow up to 5 working days' notice.
- Combine visits. If you buy ikat from Pochampally and durries from Warangal, book both on consecutive days so one trip covers them.
- Weaver networks. A handloom order may be woven by several weavers and finished and packed at one centre. We inspect the finished, packed lot at that centre; a during-production inspection can check the first pieces off the looms.
- Same standard everywhere. Each report follows the same checklist and verdict wording, and a supervisor reviews it before release.
An inspection costs US$249 per man-day plus travel; see pricing.
How to book an inspection in Telangana
Send the product, the address of the factory or finishing centre and the ready date through the booking form, with your specification and photos of the approved sample.
