Open roles
Freelance quality inspector
Carry out pre-shipment, during-production and container loading inspections at factories near you, for overseas importers who book Clear To Load.
We offer assignments when a buyer books in your area and category, and you accept or decline each one. You inspect to our checklist and report format, take photos of every finding, and a supervisor reviews your report before it goes to the buyer. Clear To Load pays you, never the factory; we agree the fee with you before you accept an assignment.
What you need
At least two years in inspection, quality control or production for the categories you apply for.
Working knowledge of AQL sampling (ISO 2859-1) and of classifying defects as critical, major or minor.
Clear written English, a smartphone with a good camera, a measuring tape and laptop access for reports.
No commercial ties to the factories you would inspect, and no payment, gift or commission from a supplier, ever.
Freelance applications are also welcome from anywhere in India at any time.
How freelance assignments work
- Apply once. Fill in the form below with your base city, the clusters you can reach and the products you know. We vet you as described further down.
- We offer assignments near you. When a buyer books an inspection in your area and category, we contact you by phone or WhatsApp with the product, factory town, date and scope. You accept or decline each one.
- You inspect to our standard. We send the buyer's specification and our checklist. You draw the sample, check the goods and take photos to the Clear To Load report format.
- We review and release. A supervisor reviews your report before it goes to the buyer and gives you feedback.
- We pay you, not the factory. We agree the fee with you before you accept an assignment. You never take payment, gifts or commission from a supplier.
Product categories we need
Most of our inspections today are furniture and home goods for importers in Europe and North America. We are building coverage across every category India exports, so we want to hear from inspectors with experience in:
- Solid wood, metal, upholstered and outdoor furniture (Jodhpur, Jaipur, Saharanpur, Delhi NCR and others)
- Home décor, handicrafts and metalware (Moradabad, Jaipur, Jodhpur)
- Home textiles, rugs and carpets (Panipat, Karur, Bhadohi–Mirzapur)
- Apparel and knitwear (Tiruppur, Ludhiana, Delhi NCR)
- Leather goods and footwear (Kanpur, Agra, Chennai)
- Ceramics, glassware and tiles; engineering goods; electrical and lighting
See the full list of categories on our industries page.
What we look for
- Product experience. At least two years inspecting, in quality control or in production for the categories you apply for. Tell us which products, which factories and for which markets.
- Sampling and defect classification. You can set up an inspection under ISO 2859-1 (AQL), choose sample sizes and classify defects as critical, major or minor. Our AQL guide shows the level we expect.
- Clear written English. Buyers read your findings directly. Short, factual sentences and well-framed photos matter more than long text.
- Independence. No commercial ties to factories you would inspect. You accept no payment, commission or gift from a supplier, ever.
- Practical kit. A smartphone with a good camera, a measuring tape and, for wood, a moisture meter. Laptop access for reports.
How we vet inspectors
Buyers trust a report because of who wrote it. Before we offer a first assignment, we:
- review your CV and experience by product category;
- hold a call to go through a sample inspection, sampling and defect classification;
- check references from previous employers or clients;
- confirm you have no ties to factories in your area that we would inspect;
- ask you to complete a first inspection alongside, or reviewed closely by, a senior inspector.
After that, a supervisor still reviews every report before release, and we give feedback on each one.
