Lab testing coordination in India
Clear To Load coordinates lab testing in India for US$99 per order. Our inspector pulls samples at random from your production, seals them under a documented chain of custody and sends them to an ISO/IEC 17025-accredited laboratory for the tests your market requires, such as ASTM F2057 stability or TSCA Title VI formaldehyde. We run no laboratory of our own.

Lab testing coordination means an independent inspector pulls and seals samples from your production at an Indian factory and sends them to an accredited laboratory, so the lab test report belongs to your lot and not to samples the factory picked. Clear To Load has no laboratory, no partner labs and takes no commission on test fees. Which tests apply to which product is covered in lab testing for goods made in India.
From the production line to the lab bench
The point of coordination is that nobody with a stake in the result chooses or handles the samples.

| Check | What the inspector does |
|---|---|
| Test plan | Tests matched to your product and destination market, agreed with you and the lab before sampling. |
| Independent sample selection | Samples drawn at random from production, not chosen by the factory. |
| Chain of custody | Samples sealed, labelled and photographed, with a custody form from factory to lab. |
| Certificate review | Supplier test reports and mill certificates (EN 10204 type 3.1) checked against the goods, batch and heat numbers. |
| Results follow-up | The lab report checked against the samples we sealed and linked to the inspection report and the production lot. |
Fitting lab turnaround into your ship date
The lab's own turnaround is the longest step and the one we do not control. Pull samples early enough that a failed test still leaves time to act.
| Step | When | What to know |
|---|---|---|
| Test plan | When you place the order | Agree the tests your market needs and the lab, and ask the lab for its turnaround. |
| Sample pulling | From finished production, often at a DUPRO or PSI | When samples are pulled during an inspection there is no extra visit; a separate sample-pulling visit is charged as a man-day. |
| Your booking | At least the notice for the factory's travel band (table below) | We confirm the inspector, date and price within 24 hours. |
| Dispatch | After sealing | Samples go by courier to the lab with a custody form and photos of the seals. |
| Lab report check | When the lab report arrives | We check that the sample description, IDs and photos in the lab's report match what we sealed. |
| Monsoon (June to September) | Seal against humidity | Wood and textile samples are bagged and sealed so moisture picked up in transit does not change what the lab tests. |
| Diwali (October or November) | Pull samples earlier | Courier and lab schedules can slow around festival holidays. Ask the lab for its holiday dates when you book. |
Notice by travel band
Notice for a sample-pulling visit follows the factory's travel band. When samples are pulled during an inspection you have already booked, no extra notice is needed. Check your factory's band on the coverage page.
| Band | Where | Notice | Travel fee |
|---|---|---|---|
| Band A | Jodhpur | Same day when an inspector is free, otherwise 1–2 working days | No travel fee |
| Band B | Jaipur, Saharanpur, Moradabad, Delhi NCR or Kolkata, where our other inspectors are based | Same day to 3 working days, depending on the city | US$99 per man-day |
| Band C | Anywhere else in India | Up to 5 working days, depending on distance | Actual travel cost, quoted before you book |
What coordination costs, and what the lab charges
Coordination costs US$99 per order. Covers the test plan, sample sealing and dispatch, and checking the lab report against the goods. When samples are pulled during an inspection there is no extra visit; a separate sample-pulling visit is charged as a man-day. The laboratory's own test fees are billed at cost with the lab's invoice attached, or paid by you directly to the lab.
Worked example. A buyer books a pre-shipment inspection of chests of drawers in Jodhpur and wants one style tested for stability before shipping to the US:
| Line | Sum | Amount |
|---|---|---|
| Pre-shipment inspection | 1 man-day × US$249 | US$249 |
| Lab testing coordination | 1 order | US$99 |
| Total before tax and lab fees | US$348 |
If the samples are needed before any inspection, a separate sample-pulling visit in Jaipur (Band B) costs US$249 + US$99 travel + US$99 coordination = US$447, plus the lab's fees at cost. See pricing for all rates.
Lab testing for goods made in India
Why independent sampling matters
When a factory sends its own samples to a lab, the samples may not represent production. Independent pulling makes the test result meaningful for the lot you are buying.
Which laboratory
We have no commercial ties to any laboratory and take no commission on test fees. Tests go to an ISO/IEC 17025-accredited laboratory that you choose, or that we suggest for your product and market, and we check the lab's report against the goods before they ship.
Accreditation in India
In India, testing laboratories are accredited to ISO/IEC 17025 by NABL. Check that the lab's accreditation scope lists the exact test method you need, not just the lab's name.
What an inspection checks on site, and what needs a lab
| Requirement | On site, the inspector can | Needs an accredited lab |
|---|---|---|
| Clothing storage stability (STURDY) | Run a tip-over check, confirm the anti-tip kit and warning label | Stability testing to the rule |
| Composite wood formaldehyde (TSCA Title VI) | Check panel labels and supplier certificates | Emission testing under the certification programme |
| Upholstery smoulder (TB 117-2013) | Check the compliance label is present and correct | Smoulder resistance testing |
| Restricted chemicals (EU REACH) | Check supplier declarations and labels | Chemical analysis of materials |
| Metal composition (EN 10204 3.1) | Match heat numbers on parts to the certificate; witness tests run by the mill or a specialist | Composition and mechanical testing |
We never issue EN 10204 3.2 certificates, and composition checks such as XRF are witnessed, not run, by our inspectors.
Two reports, tied to one lot
Cleared to load Hold Not cleared
You receive the laboratory's report together with our sampling record: sample IDs, seal numbers, photos of the sealed samples, the custody form, and the purchase order and lot the samples came from. We note whether the lab's sample description matches what we sealed, and whether the result covers every style that needs it.
Sample 05 shows a finding where a lab test is the next step: in a Jodhpur lot of mango wood furniture, a five-drawer cabinet tipped forward with all drawers open, a critical defect that fails the lot on its own. An on-site tip-over check can find the risk; for the US, compliance with the STURDY Act (ASTM F2057) is shown by testing to the rule. See all sample reports.

Lab testing coordination: questions buyers ask
Can the factory send samples to the lab itself?
It can, but the result only proves that those samples passed. Independent sampling ties the result to your production lot.
Do you have a partner laboratory?
No. We have no partner laboratories and take no commission. Tests go to an ISO/IEC 17025-accredited lab you choose, or one we suggest for your product and market; in India, labs are accredited by NABL.
How much does lab testing coordination cost?
US$99 per order. Covers the test plan, sample sealing and dispatch, and checking the lab report against the goods. When samples are pulled during an inspection there is no extra visit; a separate sample-pulling visit is charged as a man-day. The lab's own fees are billed at cost with the lab's invoice attached, or paid by you directly to the lab.
Can you issue an EN 10204 3.2 certificate?
No. We can check a 3.1 mill certificate against heat numbers on the goods and witness tests that the mill or a specialist runs, but we do not issue 3.2 certificates.
When should samples be pulled?
From finished production, early enough that a failed test still leaves time for a fix before the ship date. Pulling at a during-production inspection is often best; at the pre-shipment inspection, a failed test can delay shipment.
Who owns the test report?
You do. The report is issued for your order and shared with you.
