What a good report tells you that a pass/fail doesn't
What Not cleared looks like
Samples 03 and 04 are Not cleared because they reach their reject numbers on major defects: an end crack and visible epoxy filling, cracked marble tops and filled cracks. Each defect has a class, a piece count, a status and a photo.
A safety finding, classed critical
In Sample 05 a five-drawer cabinet tips forward when every drawer is open. One critical defect fails the lot on its own, whatever the other counts. See our STURDY Act guide.
Rework on site, recorded honestly
In Sample 06 a light fitting was corrected on every unit during the visit. The report says so and advises a re-check rather than calling it a clean pass.
Gaps stated, not hidden
Samples 01 and 02 had no approved sealed sample and no packing specification. The checklist marks those lines "not checked", so the buyer knows exactly what the result covers.
How the result is worded
| Verdict | Report result | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| Cleared to load | Accepted | The lot meets your specification and AQL limits. The goods can ship. |
| Hold | Reworked on site, or pending your decision | We found issues you need to decide on before the goods ship. |
| Not cleared | Rejected | The lot fails your specification or AQL limits. Rework and reinspection are needed. |

Questions about our reports
Are these real inspections?
Yes. They are six real furniture inspections from 2022 and 2023. The client, factories, people, purchase orders and product codes are withheld, and labels and branding in the photographs are blurred or cropped.
Why are some reports Not cleared?
Because that is what the inspections found. A sample report that only shows passes tells you nothing about how an inspector handles problems. Samples 03, 04 and 05 are Not cleared (the reports' original result: rejected) and show what that looks like and why.
What do Cleared to load, Hold and Not cleared mean?
The lot meets your specification and AQL limits. The goods can ship. Hold means we found issues you need to decide on before the goods ship. Not cleared means the lot fails your specification or AQL limits. Rework and reinspection are needed.
How quickly will I receive my report?
Reports are delivered within 24 hours of the inspection.
Do I need to fill in a form to read them?
No. Every report is on the page in full, with its findings, checklist and photos.
