What Poland buys from India
India's exports to Poland in the categories we inspect reached US$648 million in calendar year 2025, about 20% more than in 2024 for the same consumer-goods chapters. No other European market in our research grew as fast. Clothing is more than half of it, but Poland is also Europe's third-largest buyer of Indian worked stone in this data, after the UK and Germany.

Where Poland's goods are made in India
- Knitwear. Tirupur in Tamil Nadu is a Town of Export Excellence for hosiery, and Ludhiana in Punjab for woollen knitwear (DGFT Appendix 1B). See T-shirt and knit top inspection and woollen knitwear.
- Footwear. Agra, Kanpur and Ambur are Towns of Export Excellence for leather products; "Agra Leather Footwear" is a registered geographical indication. See leather shoe inspection and the footwear pages.
- Stone. Official sources tie white marble to Makrana (Rajasthan), Black Galaxy granite to Prakasam district (Andhra Pradesh) and red sandstone quarries to Dholpur district (Rajasthan). See granite slabs and tiles and sandstone paving.
- Bed linen. Panipat is a Town of Export Excellence for bed linen as well as carpets. See bed sheets and duvet covers.
Ceramic tiles are covered on the vitrified and porcelain tiles page. All of these towns are outside our inspector bases, so travel is quoted at cost.
Checks a Polish order adds at the factory
Polish language. Article 7a of the Act of 7 October 1999 on the Polish Language requires Polish in trade with consumers in Poland, in particular for the names of goods, warranty terms, warnings and consumer information required by other laws, instructions for use and information on the properties of goods. Foreign-language descriptions must come with a Polish version. Warnings and instructions shown as widely understood pictograms need no Polish text, but any words that accompany them must be in Polish. Trademarks and proper names are exempt. At the factory, that becomes:
- Hangtags, care labels and inserts on knitwear carrying Polish text that matches your approved artwork, and Polish fibre names under Regulation (EU) 1007/2011.
- Footwear material marking under Directive 94/11/EC for the upper, the lining and sock, and the outer sole, by pictogram or in words; any words must be in Polish.
- Retail boxes and warranty or care cards in Polish, not only English.
Stone and tiles. These are construction products, so the checks are different: dimensions and thickness against the declared tolerance class, finish and colour against the approved slab, packing markings that match the declaration of performance, and crate strength. A container loading supervision checks bracing and weight spread, since stone reaches the container's weight limit long before it fills the space. Wooden crates need ISPM 15 marks.
Packaging data. On request the inspector weighs the packaging of a sample unit by material (polybags, cartons, wooden crates, strapping) and records it in the report, as a basis for your Polish packaging reporting.
Rules that apply
Poland applies the EU rules on our EU import compliance checklist, including the GPSR, textile labelling and REACH. For leather footwear and bags, chromium VI limits are the usual lab test; we pull and seal samples through lab testing coordination.
For packaging, Poland's waste rules use the BDO register (the database on products, packaging and waste management). Businesses that place packaged products on the Polish market, which usually includes the importer of goods from India, must be entered in it and report through it; recovery organisations also file their reports there. The EU Packaging Regulation (EU) 2025/40 has applied since 12 August 2026 and national rules are adjusting to it, so confirm your current registration and reporting duties on bdo.mos.gov.pl or with your Polish adviser.
Trade agreement. The EU–India free trade agreement was concluded on 27 January 2026, and the Commission sent its proposals for signature and conclusion to the Council on 11 September 2026. As of 14 October 2026 it was not signed or in force, so normal EU duty rates apply. Your customs broker has the current rates.
Timing, price and booking
India Standard Time is UTC+5:30 all year. India is 4 hours 30 minutes ahead of Warsaw in winter and 3 hours 30 minutes ahead in summer. Our office hours, 9:30 am to 6:30 pm IST, Monday to Saturday, cover the Polish morning and early afternoon. The report reaches you within 24 hours of the inspection, after supervisor review, with a verdict of Cleared to load, Hold or Not cleared.
A growing market often means new suppliers. For a first order from an unfamiliar factory, a factory audit (US$449 per audit day) or a during-production inspection shows problems early; the pre-shipment inspection then checks the finished, packed order.
One man-day costs US$249, report included. Travel is free in Jodhpur, US$99 per man-day from Jaipur, Saharanpur, Moradabad, Delhi NCR and Kolkata, and at actual cost elsewhere. See pricing or book an inspection, and send your Polish artwork with the booking.
