What happens without one
Two of our real reports show the gap. In Sample 01 no approved sealed sample was available, so finish and colour conformity could not be verified at all. In Sample 02 sealed samples were missing for some styles, and finish was judged against the purchase order description instead. Both lots were cleared, but the buyer had no independent check that the colour matched what they had approved.
How Clear To Load uses the golden sample
In a pre-production inspection we seal and photograph the approved sample and compare it with the first production units. At later inspections the sampled units are checked against it side by side. A colour or finish difference from the approved sample is reported as Hold, for you to decide, unless your defect list classes it otherwise. If no sealed sample exists, the report says so plainly. More on setting samples up is in golden samples and approved samples.
