What is made in Meerut
The Uttar Pradesh ODOP portal lists Meerut's sports goods as cricket bats, balls, protective equipment, fitness accessories, athletics products, boxing equipment, hockey sticks and shuttlecocks. It notes that wood, leather, cork, rubber, synthetic fabrics and metal are cut, shaped, stitched and assembled, depending on the product. The same page lists an MSME Technology Development Centre testing laboratory at the Sports Goods Complex on Delhi Road.
NITI Aayog's report on India's sports equipment sector (March 2026) treats Meerut and Jalandhar as the country's two sports goods clusters. Across both, it counts more than 250 exporting units, over 4,000 micro enterprises and nearly 20,000 household units. That matters for inspection: balls and gloves are often stitched outside the main factory, so one order can pass through many hands.
Meerut is not a Town of Export Excellence. The DGFT list names no sports goods town, and none of the four towns added in 2023 is a sports cluster.

| Cricket balls | Weight and circumference against MCC Law 4; seam rows and stitching; lacquer and colour; shape after handling | Cricket ball inspection |
| Pads, gloves and helmets | Helmet model against its BS 7928 certificate; grille fit; foam and cane in pads; straps and left-right pairs | Cricket protective gear inspection |
| Boxing gloves and guards | Glove weight per ounce size; padding layers; thumb attachment; hook-and-loop closure; leather or PU as labelled | Boxing equipment inspection |

The sporting goods inspection overview explains sampling and the materials behind most failures. Helmet impact tests, chemical tests on leather and PVC, and ball performance tests are lab work; we pull and seal samples through lab testing coordination.

Timing and logistics
Our inspectors travel to Meerut from Delhi NCR by the Delhi–Meerut Expressway, so a visit is usually a day trip. Meerut is outside our Delhi NCR travel band, so travel is charged at actual cost and quoted before you book.
- Seasons: cricket gear is ordered ahead of the playing season in the buyer's market, and a late lot can miss it. Book a during-production inspection on a first order, while sizes and materials can still be corrected.
- Outside work: because stitching and finishing are often done by household units, ask the factory to bring all goods back before the final visit. We inspect only what is at the address you give.
- Willow: bats need dry storage. We check stacking and storage on the day and note any surface cracks or mould.
- Several units: where two factories are close and lots are small, we can sometimes cover both in one man-day.
